Moray MP Douglas Ross says it was “fantastic” to tour round various schools in his constituency to present prizes to the winner and runners-up in his annual Christmas card competition.
The lucky winner this year was nine-year-old Chloe Smith from Cluny Primary School in Buckie, with Douglas handing over prizes from Moray Office Supplies and personalised mugs created by MorayVia Aviation Museum which had each child’s design printed on it. These were two of the local organisations who sponsored the competition.
Douglas says the standard of entries was “typically of an extremely high standard” and choosing the winner and runners-up is one of the “hardest but most enjoyable” tasks he has as a local MP each year.
A further five joint runners up were selected by Douglas as follows:
Esme Robertson (Age 9) from Cullen Primary
Hannah Clapperton (Age 11) from Logie Primary
Niamh Williamson (Age 6) from Newmill Primary
Lucy Milne (Age 7) from Greenwoods Primary School, Elgin
Rory Gibson (Age 6) from Dallas Primary School
Other local businesses who kindly sponsored the competition included Walker’s, Baxters, Boyd International, Riverside Kitchens and Ocean Winds.
Douglas added that he is already looking forward to next year’s competition and seeing entries from local school pupils across Moray.
Moray MP Douglas Ross said: “It was fantastic to be able to congratulate and handover prizes to the winner and runners-up of my annual Christmas Card Competition.
“As always the entries from pupils across Moray were of an extremely high standard. Choosing the winner and runners-up is always one of the toughest tasks as a local MP, but also one of the most enjoyable.
“I also want to thank all the local businesses who kindly sponsored the competition, without whom it would not be possible to carry out this every year.
“I hope Chloe – and all the runners-up – enjoy their prizes and they should be very proud of the designs they created. Now hundreds of these cards are being delivered across Moray, Scotland and the UK and I know people will be very impressed with the artistic talent of Moray pupils displayed on the card.”
