Moray MP Douglas Ross says he was “delighted” to pay another visit to the Scottish Dolphin Centre at Spey Bay recently.
Douglas – who is the Scottish Parliament’s species champion for the Bottlenose Dolphin – visited the centre ran by the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Charity earlier this month.
While he was “disappointed” not to catch any sightings of the dolphins on this occasion, he says it was “incredibly useful” to meet with those at the centre to learn more about species and the great work done at the centre.
Douglas also learned more about the Shore Watch Scheme which allows sightings of dolphins and whales to be recorded successfully and allow the charity to monitor where they have made their home in waters around the United Kingdom.
He thanked those at the centre for taking the time to meet with him and for all the work they do, while hoping that he would be fortunate enough to spot a dolphin when he next visits.
Moray MP Douglas Ross said: “I am always delighted to visit the Dolphin Centre at Spey Bay, which is such a terrific asset for our region.
“As the species champion in the Scottish Parliament for the Bottlenose Dolphin, it was incredibly useful for me to learn more about these amazing mammals.
“While I was disappointed not to catch any sightings on this occasion, it was still a fantastic visit.
“It was great to learn more about the important Shore Watch scheme, which allows the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Charity to accurately record where dolphins and whales have made their home, including right here in the Spey Bey.
“I really appreciated Alison and Katie for taking the time to meet with me and to see the fantastic work they are carrying out every single day.
“It was also a great opportunity to congratulate them on the tremendous TripAdvisor award they received recently, showing how popular the centre is with tourists who have commented so positively on the staff and the experience they’ve had at the Scottish Dolphin Centre.”
