Moray MP Douglas Ross says it was “fantastic” to have the opportunity to welcome Moray’s Member of the Scottish Youth Parliament to Westminster this week.
Douglas met with Jack Granitza and his family on Monday and showed them round the Houses of Parliament, while discussing issues that matter to people in Moray and how they can work together to tackle them.
Douglas says Jack has done a “brilliant” job since being elected to the Scottish Youth Parliament in raising important issues for young people in Moray.
He says it is always great to see young people like Jack getting involved in politics and says that is particularly important in rural and remote areas like Moray, whose priorities are often forgotten.
Moray MP Douglas Ross said: “It was fantastic to have the chance to welcome Jack and his family to the Houses of Parliament at Westminster.
“Jack has done a brilliant job in raising issues that matter to Moray’s young people since being elected to the Scottish Youth Parliament.
“It is important that our young people in Moray – living in rural and remote small towns and villages – know they have a strong voice raising the issues that matter to them in the Youth Parliament.
“It was good to have the chance to discuss these issues directly with Jack and it is always great to see young people like him wanting to get involved in politics at a young age.
“I will continue to work closely with our local MSYPs to focus on the real priorities facing Moray’s young people during these challenging times.”
Moray MSYP Jack Granitza said: "It was great to meet Douglas at Westminster this week , where I received an excellent tour around the Houses of Parliament from Douglas himself.
"I was able to share some insight into my role as one of the Members of the Scottish Youth Parliament (MSYP) for Moray with Douglas and I hope the SYP team in Moray can work cooperatively with Douglas on the issues young people in Moray face in the future."
