Moray MP Douglas Ross has demanded an urgent meeting with Park Holidays over the escalating situation for owners at Lossiemouth Holiday Park.
Douglas, who met with concerned caravan owners in the summer last year to hear how services had deteriorated since Park Holidays took control of the holiday park, now wishes to meet with Park Holidays regional manager Ricky Turner again.
Douglas has been contacted by concerned residents in recent days. They say the site has now become a “bombsite” and that they are “trapped” into keeping their caravans at the site.
One owner, who met with Douglas last year says that Park Holidays would take near to 20% of any sale, if he decided to leave.
Owners are set to see their fees increase by over 50 per cent, despite them having no access to top class facilities. Park Holidays UK even tried to point out to Lossiemouth owners that there were facilities available at the Silver Sands Holiday Park, where pitch fees are also cheaper.
Douglas says this situation is “completely unacceptable” and that Park Holidays cannot continue to avoid their responsibilities to owners, who previously thoroughly enjoyed their experience at the caravan park in Lossiemouth.
Moray MP Douglas Ross said: “The situation at Lossiemouth Holiday Park is nothing short of a scandal for owners. They have been let down at every turn by Park Holidays ever since the company took control of the site in April last year.
“Their experience which used to be a positive one has become a total nightmare for them. For them to be describing the site as a bombsite, shows just how much Park Holidays have neglected this caravan park in Lossiemouth.
“I was shocked by the issues that were detailed to me in the summer when I met with concerned owners but shockingly it has become even worse since then.
“I raised those concerns directly to Park Holidays but they have failed to address them and now have the cheek to increase owners' fees by over 50 per cent during a cost-of-living crisis, without providing suitable facilities to them.
“I have again contacted Park Holidays Regional Manager to demand an urgent meeting with them as this situation is completely unacceptable. Park Holidays cannot keep avoiding their responsibilities to owners, who are at the end of their tether.
“They have failed to back up their warm words and promises when they last met me and it is little wonder many of those on the site are looking to sell up and leave, through no fault of their own.
“I hope Park Holidays respond as quickly as possible to my request for a further meeting and I will continue to fight for this situation to be vastly improved for all those at Lossiemouth Caravan Park.”
