Moray MP Douglas Ross has “warmly congratulated” Forres In Bloom on winning a Gold award at the 2022 Beautiful Scotland Awards.
He has submitted a motion in the Scottish Parliament after the group won the best “Medium Town” category at the awards as well as retaining their Gold Medal Status.
Douglas’ motion thanks all the volunteers involved with Forres In Bloom for their tireless efforts to ensure that the town has again been filled with outstanding floral displays in Grant Park and throughout the town.
He says that their commitment has ensured that the town has become known throughout Scotland as a must visit community.
Douglas’ motion also recognises that the award is a reflection on the town as a whole and also thanked the efforts of local schools and other Forres residents which helped to contribute to the award.
This year's event had a focus on environmental improvement with more emphasis on permanent planting and protecting wildlife.
Moray MP Douglas Ross said: “I was delighted to submit this motion to congratulate all the volunteers involved in Forres in Bloom. This is a terrific achievement and testament to their tireless work to make our town look beautiful.
“They have enjoyed success over many years and given the extra emphasis surrounding environmental improvement in this year's awards, it’s great to see their efforts continually praised and rewarded by the judges.
“Thanks to Forres in Bloom and all those who have supported them throughout the town, Forres is now known as a must visit community throughout Scotland.
“I know that all the volunteers will continue their great work and I cannot wait to see their future floral displays. I would also like to wish the group the very best of luck in getting the opportunity to hopefully represent Scotland in the UK-wide Britain in Bloom finals next year.”
