Moray MP Douglas Ross has praised local volunteers and community organisations for helping to organise countless Platinum Jubilee celebrations over the weekend across the Moray area.
Douglas says it was testament to the typical positive community spirit across Moray that so many events took place to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen reigning for seventy years.
He was in Grant Park on Forres on Sunday for a picnic, alongside his eldest son Alistair, who was extremely keen to take part in the tree-planting alongside Moray’s Lord-Lieutenant.
Other events took place from Thursday through Sunday as people came to together to honour the Queen’s astonishing seven-decade long reign.
Moray MP Douglas Ross said: “The Platinum Jubilee celebrations across Moray throughout the weekend were absolutely fantastic to see. Full credit must go to the local volunteers and community organisations who worked tirelessly to put on these events to honour our Majesty.
“I was delighted to be at Grant Park in Forres on Sunday with our family to be at the community picnic and join in with the tree-planting ceremony. It’s fair to say our three-year-old enjoyed getting stuck in with his spade to help!
“Her Majesty the Queen has been a tower of strength for our nation for the last seven decades. This weekend was a chance to show our thanks and people and communities across Moray did that in their droves.
"We could not have asked for better weather for the holiday weekend which only added to the countless excellent events that were taking place.
“I knew Moray would show their gratitude towards The Queen for the incredible dedication she has given to our country for the last seventy years and I applaud everyone of all ages for coming together and celebrating this wonderful occasion.”
