Moray MP Douglas Ross has welcomed the news that the United States will open its doors to UK lamb exports in the new year as a positive boost for local producers
Commenting Douglas said: “This new deal means that lamb producers in Moray and across Scotland will have a massive new market available to them from January 3rdwhich is a really positive boost for the industry.
“We know that Scottish Lamb is the best in the world and this new deal secured by the UK Government will showcase produce from Moray to a huge new market and could be worth millions to Scottish sheep farmers.
“I’m delighted that yet again the UK Government has shown that it is working for the whole of the UK and bringing positive benefits to Scotland and here in Moray with deals such as this.”
UK Government Minister for Scotland Malcolm Offord said: "This massive new export opportunity is fantastic news for farmers in Scotland and around the UK. US consumers will be licking their lips at the prospect of soon being able to tuck into our world-class lamb. Scottish farming is crucial to the UK's recovery from the pandemic and the UK Government will do everything it can to support it.”
