Moray MP Douglas Ross says a scheme introduced by Chancellor Rishi Sunak to help young people back into work has made a real difference in Moray.
He was commenting as new figures show the UK Chancellor’s Kickstart Scheme helped 130 youngsters in Moray aged 16-24 gain new opportunities since the scheme was launched. Overall, the scheme created 300 new job openings in Moray.
Commenting, Douglas said: “This is further evidence that Rishi Sunak and the UK Government are prepared to step up at every turn to support jobs and economic recovery across Scotland. Kickstart has made a real difference to the individuals who have benefitted from it in Moray.
“Our young people have been hit particularly hard by the pandemic and schemes like Kickstart are the right way to support them back into employment as soon as possible.
“This also demonstrates that the Chancellor is prepared to support and accelerate recovery in Moray and making new jobs available is the right way to do that.
“It is crucial both of Scotland’s governments fully focus on our recovery to ensure our communities can rebuild after the pandemic and by working together I really believe that we can do that.”
