Moray MP Douglas Ross has written to Moray Council highlighting a local road safety issue that residents of Findhorn Road, Forres, say is an accident waiting to happen. The concerns relate to the speed cyclists using the Findhorn-Forres cycle path leave the designated path and enter onto Findhorn Road, many crossing it without looking .
Douglas said “I am well aware of this issue myself and now with more and more of us using bikes I think the time has come for Moray Council to look at this particular issue and consider erecting a metal split barrier at the junction of this path and Findhorn Road bear Seuno’s Stone. This would encourage users of the path to stop and take more care before crossing the road.
“Seuno’s Stone draws many tourists to this area and Findhorn Road at this particular location can be busy with cars and buses.
“This is not the quiet cul-de-sac some cyclists seem to think it is. This can be a busy section of road with tourist traffic, so this additional safety measure would benefit those using the route and I know it would be a reassurance to local residents who raised their concerns with me.”
