Douglas Ross MP was presented with a piece of artwork of the Covesea Lighthouse in Moray this week as a celebration of the local area.
The piece, by Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year finalist Gregor Henderson, was donated by Sky to mark the launch of Sky Arts as a free-to-air channel.
Covesea Lighthouse, on the outskirts of Lossiemouth, was one of just 40 sites chosen from across the UK to mark the launch.
Scottish Conservative MP for Moray Mr Ross said:
“It was a pleasure to meet Gregor and I am delighted that Covesea Lighthouse was chosen as one of the UK sites to mark the launch.
“To mark the launch of this new channel Sky were looking for iconic locations to capture from across the country and I’m delighted they picked Moray and Covesea Lighthouse.
"The fact that only forty pieces of art were commissioned across the United Kingdom shows how special our landscape and building are here in Moray.
“The project celebrates the diversity of landscapes and buildings across the country and the power of art to offer new perspectives.
“There has never been a more critical time to support the UK’s vibrant arts sector.
“I am hopeful that in making this cultural programming available to all, Sky can inspire greater participation in the arts from new and diverse audiences."
