Moray MP Douglas Ross has written to the Scottish Government after learning that the proposed train station at Inverness airport might not be built before 2024.
Commenting Douglas said: “I was contacted by a constituent from Moray who wanted to know why, when a date for 2019 had previously been made public for the Inverness Airport rail link that work hadn’t even started and there were no updates about the project.
“I wrote to Network Rail and I was extremely disappointed by the response which stated that Transport Scotland had now taken charge of the project which would probably be delivered early in their next programme which would be between 2019 and 2024.”
“A lot of people in Moray are reliant on the links from Inverness airport and are keen to see this project come to fruition, especially as at the moment the only way to get to the airport if you don’t drive is on a bus, and with changes to timetables and no buses later in this evening, this is not always an option.”
“I have now written to the Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Infrastructure and Connectivity asking for definite timescales. We need answers not vague promises of when this project will be delivered.”
