Moray MP Douglas Ross has wished everyone involved in tonight’s Burning of the Clavie in Burghead all the best in the House of Commons.
Douglas used Scotland Office questions to send his best wishes to Clavie King Dan Ralph and his team ahead of the traditional January 11 new year celebrations in the village this evening.
He highlighted that the tradition dates back to the 1750s and described it as a “quite a sight”.
He added that he is sad not to be able to be in Moray tonight to join in the celebrations.
Moray MP Douglas Ross said: “I was pleased to have this opportunity in the House of Commons to wish everyone involved in the Clavie all the best ahead of the event.
“I am sad not to be able to join organisers and the Burghead community themselves as they take part in this tradition that dates back to the 1750s.
“It really is a fantastic sight to behold as the Clavie crew take the burning barrel of tar and wood through the streets of Burghead up to Doorie Hill.
“I hope all goes well this evening and a very happy new year to everyone in Burghead on January 11th.”
