Having been contacted by concerned constituents about the lack of gritting on the Dallas- Knockando Road,Moray MP Douglas Ross made contact with Moray Council highlighting these concerns and urging the Council to review this decision. Whilst the Council initially refused to change their decision, but ahead of a meeting between Douglas and local residents next week, it looks like the route could be upgraded.
Douglas said “ I was contacted earlier this month by constituents who were anxious and concerned about the lack of gritting on the Dallas – Knockando Road, particularly after several cars had left the road or been involved in accidents during the recent wintry conditions.
“I wrote to the Moray Council regarding this issue, urging them to look again at the decision to reduce the gritting of this route from priority 1 to priority 2.
“Due to the level of discontent in the area, I arranged a meeting with representatives of the Community next Friday in Dallas, which is still going ahead. However, it is welcome to see the SNP group on the Council agreeing with me and the hundreds who signed the petition to change this road back to a priority one gritting route.
“I welcome this change from the SNP led Council. As I said weeks ago, I will work with everyone to resolve this issue as the safety of road users is paramount”.
