Moray MP Douglas Ross has welcomed the appointment of Seymour Munro as the new Lord Lieutenant of Moray following the retirement of Grenville Johnston.
Douglas said: “I’m delighted Her Majesty The Queen has appointed Major General Seymour Monro as the new Lord Lieutenant of Moray.
“Seymour has a wealth of experience which he will bring to this prestigious role and I know he will be an outstanding representative of Her Majesty the Queen in Moray.
“As well as his distinguished career in the Army, Seymour has an excellent record of service to the local community here in Moray. The work he has done with many local groups and organisations over the years has been greatly appreciated by everyone he has worked with.
“I know Seymour will be brilliantly supported by his wife Angela and I wish them both every success as he takes on these new responsibilities.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Grenville Johnston for everything he’s done for our area. Grenville has worked tirelessly for Moray over the past 15 years and being awarded the Freedom of Moray was a well-deserved recognition of the contribution he made as Lord Lieutenant of Moray.”
