Moray MP Douglas Ross has congratulated the winner, runners-up and all the pupils who took part in his annual Christmas Card competition.
As the festive period approaches, Douglas was on hand to present Travis Beveridge, aged 11, of Seafield Primary School in Elgin with his prize as the winner of this year’s competition.
Travis’s winning card will be sent to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, His Majesty King Charles and Douglas’ political colleagues and opponents as well as local businesses, charities and organisations.
Douglas says that choosing the winner of his Christmas Card Competition is one of “the highlights of his year as a MP” but also one of the most difficult.
Five joint runners-up were also chosen by Douglas to receive prizes.
Six-year-old Ziggy Key of St Gerardine Primary School in Lossiemouth, eleven-year-old Rose Morrison of Lhanbryde Primary School, Erin Irvine also aged six from Botriphnie Primary School in Keith, five-year-old Sam Robertson from Cullen Primary School and 10-year-old Erika Lee from Dyke Primary School were the lucky runners-up.
Douglas thanked all young pupils from across his Moray constituency for submitting a wonderful series of designs that showcased the incredible creativity within the region’s schools, and he also thanked the local businesses for once again kindly sponsoring the competition.
He also thanked local teachers for encouraging pupils to get involved in his competition and that he was looking forward to seeing Travis’s winning entry and the other runners-up in colleagues offices and desks in the run up to Christmas.
Moray MP Douglas Ross said: “My annual Christmas card competition is one of the highlights of my year as the local MP for Moray, but also one of the most difficult to judge.
“This year’s competition was no different. There was a typically high standard of entries from pupils across the constituency but sadly there can only be one winner.
“My congratulations go to Travis for being the winner of the 2022 competition and to all those who also were selected as runners-up. The entry from Travis caught my eye as it included iconic Moray landmarks with the Cullen Viaduct, Lossie Lighthouse and Elgin Cathedral all featured.
“I want to thank every single pupil who took the time to send in their creative designs and to the local businesses for once again kindly sponsoring the competition.
“I hope Travis and the other runners-up enjoy their prizes in the run up to Christmas and I always find that seeing these cards puts me well and truly in the festive spirit."
