Moray MP Douglas Ross has paid tribute to Moray HandyPerson Services after they celebrated 25 years as an organisation on Saturday.
Douglas was in attendance at St Giles Church in Elgin on Saturday to join volunteers, supporters and users of the service to wish them a very happy 25th birthday.
He says that it is a “fantastic achievement” that the organisation has been supporting Moray residents for such a substantial period of time and it is a wonderful example of the community spirit that exists in Moray.
Douglas hopes that the 25th anniversary will only drive Moray HandyPerson Services onto bigger and better things and says he will continue to fight for funding to ensure that they can keep delivering high quality services for those who need it most.
Moray MP Douglas Ross said: “I was delighted to be able to go along and give my thanks to Moray HandyPerson Services on their 25th birthday.
"The volunteers and supporters involved in helping people across our communities in Moray should be very proud of reaching a quarter of a century as an organisation.
“They continue to play an extremely important role in Moray, supporting our elderly and vulnerable in particular who may not be able to be carry out household tasks on their own.
“It was great to see such a good turnout in Elgin at this event for everyone to show their gratitude for the work that has been done by the organisation, which has taken pressure off a number of people who know they have a hugely reliable group to turn to for help.
"It is a perfect example of the widespread community spirit that exists in Moray.
“However, this group rely on donations and vital Moray Council funding to continue and times are understandably tough given the effects of the pandemic and the current cost-of-living crisis. If you are in a position to give a donation, no matter how small then I would encourage people in Moray to do so.
“I wish Moray HandyPerson Services a happy 25th birthday and continued success in the years to come and I will continue to support them in every way I can.”
