Moray MP Douglas Ross will hold a public meeting in Roseisle village hall on Monday (10th October) to ensure villagers concerns over speeding are heard by authorities.
Douglas had called for the meeting to take place in August following residents in the village coming to voice their concerns during his summer surgery tour.
The meeting will take place at 12pm on Monday with residents invited along by Douglas. Alongside the local MP, it has been confirmed that representatives from the police, Diageo and Moray Council will also attend.
Douglas says he is pleased that a meeting has been arranged after residents came to see him in the summer, saying that they feared that unless improvements are made, that an accident involving a pedestrian will occur.
Residents also told Douglas about issues surrounding vibration from lorries that are travelling to and from the nearby Diageo distillery.
Douglas hopes that the meeting will ensure that positive solutions can be found to alleviate the concerns surrounding speeding in the village, which have been going on for too long.
Moray MP Douglas Ross said: “I am pleased that this meeting will be taking place on Monday after residents voiced their serious concerns to me about speeding issues in Roseisle during my summer surgery tour.
“It is important that the authorities hear directly from residents about the issues they are enduring on a daily basis when it comes to speeding motorists, as well as vibration from lorries travelling to the distillery.
“We’ve already seen a serious incident in the community last year when a car ended up in someone’s garden and there is a real fear that it is only a matter of time before an incident occurs with a pedestrian.
“I’m confident that this meeting will ensure those from the council, police and Diageo will hear what residents want to see happen as a matter of urgency and give them confidence that these issues will vastly improve.
“I look forward to welcoming everyone to this meeting and will continue to work closely with them as the local MP to improve issues surrounding speeding in and around Roseisle.”
