Moray MP Douglas Ross has handed over a cheque for £821.45 to the RNLI based at Buckie.
Douglas, who is now also an MSP for the Highlands & Islands (which includes Moray), pledged only to accept one salary if elected to Holyrood while still serving as MP for Moray. He will donate his monthly wage from the Scottish Parliament to local charities and this month the RNLI in Buckie benefited from the cash.
Commenting Douglas said:
“The RNLI is a charity close to my heart as the life boat crews are mainly volunteers who work tirelessly to save lives at sea. Moray has many coastal communities and it’s an area busy with all kinds of business and leisure related activity in the waters around our coast. The dedication, commitment and professionalism of these brave men and women to rescue and save the lives of others in peril at sea, is inspiring and they deserve our full support.
“During the pandemic fundraising for the RNLI has been challenging, as it has been for many charities, and that is why I was delighted to present this month’s wage to Davie Grant the Buckie lifeboat Coxwain to support the tremendous work they do.”
David Grant said:
“I am delighted to accept this cheque on behalf of the RNLI from Douglas Ross. As a voluntary Emergency service we rely on donations to be able to function properly and this money will certainly be put to good use by us in our ongoing quest to save and rescue those in difficulty at sea.
