Moray MP Douglas Ross has sent his congratulations to two pupils from Moray and Banffshire whose winning designs were selected to feature on two new flags representing the two areas
Aila Gibson from Dallas Primary and Ellie Stewart from Portessie Primary were each shortlisted against three other pupils to have their designs on the flags which were officially unveiled in ceremonies held in Elgin and Cullen by the Lord Lieutenants of Moray and Banffshire respectively.
Flag raising ceremonies were also held in towns around the region to mark the occasion and flags are flying at various key places.
Commenting, Douglas said: “I think the flags are really terrific, and they send a positive message about what Moray and Banffshire have to offer, with the symbols and pictures on each of the designs.
“I want to congratulate everyone who took part and created a design to be considered in the competition and to the public who took part in the votes to choose the winning flags.
I know these will now proudly fly around Moray and Banffshire and Aila and Ellie have done a great job creating flags that highlight some of the important aspects of our regions.”
