Moray MP Douglas Ross was delighted to donate surplus funds from his 2019 Christmas card competition to this year’s MFR Mission Christmas Appeal. Each year Douglas’s Christmas card competition is generously supported by local individuals and businesses, with any funds left over donated to a nominated charity, which this year is the MFR Mission Christmas Appeal.
Douglas said “Every year I link in with all the primary schools in Moray and ask the pupils to design a Christmas card, with the winning entry being used as my official Moray MP Christmas card.
“I rely on the goodwill and generosity of local businesses and individuals to support this initiative and cover the associated costs. We try and make our system as efficient and streamlined as possible to keep costs down with any money left over being donated to a local charity.
“This year I am absolutely delighted to hand over a cheque for £800 to Pamela Nicol-Brown the Forres based local fundraiser for the MFR Mission Christmas Appeal.
“There are many reasons why some parents and guardians are not in a position to Christmas presents for their child and that is why the work of Pamela and her team at MFR Mission Christmas is so important. As a result of their work and the donations they receive, no child goes without a gift in Moray at Christmas.”
Pamela Nicol-Brown added “This donation is a fantastic start to our fundraising effort for the MFR Mission Christmas Appeal 2020. Every year we rely on the goodwill and generosity of the local community to make sure that no child goes without at Christmas.
“We can take donations of money or gifts at any time of the year and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our supporters and local people who have donated gifts and funding, which allow us to make a real difference to the lives of so many.”
